NEOR #1 Sign up

Posted by Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club at Oct 16, 2019 8:12PM PDT

Hi everyone!

Our first hosted meet of the year, NEOR #1 is coming up November 2nd and 3rd! For those of you who are new to the sport of swimming, welcome! Swim meets are a fun exciting time!

Please sign up as soon as possible. The deadline to sign up without penalty is Wednesday October 30th-no exceptions.

Anyone can work a session on your behalf. (Sessions generally run 4.5 hours.) High school students acquiring volunteer hours are welcome!

Meet sign up checklist:

-Fill out Officials online registration form
-Sign up for your volunteer session – must be a full session-unfortunately not only safety marshal!/showSignUp/5080848A9A82CA5FA7-neor4

-Complete introduction to swimming/safety marshal in person This Saturday or online if you can’t attend. If you’re new, or if you’ve never taken it before-It’s free! (optional but recommended)
-Sign up for one of Swim Ontario’s upcoming Officials clinic webinars. (optional)
-Ask me for an official’s card at the meet if you are completing any clinics. Once a clinic is completed, you can get sign off/deck evaluation and work towards becoming a higher level official. There are incentives to moving up levels.

Those new to the swim meet world generally begin by working sessions as a timer, which is considered a level 1 official (same day basic training provided). Other popular positions are helping in our canteen/Bahnuk Lounge, volunteer hospitality, or awards coordinator.

Unfortunately, safety marshaling is not considered a full session worked. It is only 1 hour long and is generally added to other existing deck positions.

We are also assisting Laurentian Varsity with their upcoming meet October 26th and 27th. You can choose to work at either NEOR 1 or Varsity and either one will count as your session worked. Please note that the option to work varsity is on a first come first serve basis and our priority is staffing NEOR 1. Sign up here!/showSignUp/5080848A9A82CA5FA7-laurentian2

Fall Season information

Posted by Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club at Jul 24, 2019 3:31AM PDT

Welcome back, everyone. If you are a returning member to SLSC you will have a group list and a chance to register for the new season by mid-August. When you register PLEASE use your current Active account, and don’t create a new one for your athlete.

For new swimmers we will be doing assessments for new swimmers the week of Sept 10, 11, 12. Please book your assessment with Head Coach Dean Henze at During that assessment, we will be able to determine which of our groups your swimmer will best fit into.

$7124 raised to support Sudbury Laurentian Swim Club tonight with $600 going to supporting The Elgin Street Mission, a charity right here in the city. Thanks to all the supporters of SWIMMING LAPS TO SUPPORT CHARITY such as parents, extended families, cheering squads and prize donors like Desjardins bank, Smitty’s Convenience, Gagnon Opticians, Sessions Ride Company and Team Aquatic.

Tonight our swimmers swam the equivalent of 265 kilometers! Think about that distance for just a second. The swimmers almost swam to Barrie from the pool!

1st prize Kiana Smith
2nd prize Josh and Noah Rioux
3rd prize Daniel Ortiz
4th prize Megan Urwin
These four raised collectively $2300.

Way to go SLSC !
